…this has nothing to do with the page….

I’m Watching Enrico Colantoni talk about feeling like you belong somewhere else as a kid, traveling from home to find work, and feeling guilt over making money in the arts on The Hour [mar 4 2010].
-
And he’s talking about making art in Canada with some kind of integrity. I think my version of that experience; Moving to a different city when i was 27 and trying to do that in general, led me to this story.

Yep. So what’s that going on up there eh? I have fond memories of inking this page. It was nice that day. My studio looked like this then.
-
At this point in the story, we start to see some actual gutters for the first time. I like the way they give these moments a more discreet feeling compared to when the images overlap or even merge. I’m kind of obsessed i guess, with studying page structure and trying to bend time with space.

It’s all rhythms and linguistic visual similes. When i dance at a club its about finding the space for your body in the music.
-
When i draw a page, i attempt to find the same for the story in that space.

Next page 2010/03/17, see you then!
PS:Some random sketchbook doodles

Long night working today, some good inking, bad layout redo’s, and not enough as usual. gona have to work over the weekend at least partly.

“When i dance at a club its about finding the space for your body in the music.”
so true, and a great analogy.
Amazing artwork. Looking foward to the next update.
This is a joy to follow..truly brilliant work on all fronts!
looks like the “red weed” or “red seed” from “the war of the worlds” (from the music booklet to the movie)
