Hope you like the story so far, it’s a slow one at this stage i know, not to worry, it changes things up a lot along its way. A poster on one message board said at this rate i’ll be at this forever! He he, if they only knew.
But i do expect it to take a little while. The story is at least 200 pages long in it’s current scripted version.
There’s Lots of show, and yes some tell. I take some ideas from filmakers like Jim Jarmusch when it comes to pacing in this story. I like time to have a very real presence in this story. And i like the idea of leaving something open to the reader to fill in. So like this very long opening sequence, there are going to be parts where i just show you things and invite you to think about it. I Might tell you something later that explains them, or in some cases i might not.
It’s not to be poncy, or intellectual…..
on second thought, no it is intellectual, and if you don’t like it tough titties
In all seriousness, i think one of the signatures of mature story telling is when things are left to some degree up to the reader to think about, figure out. When it’s not all spelled out and hand held all the way through. Bah yawn. borrrring.
That’s not why people love lost is it?
And it’s sooooo nice to just take up some space like this. There are parts of this story where I use 9 panels per page for pages and pages. But this being it a do it my way venture you’re going to just have to sit back and enjoy the nice slow dreamy bit on our way into the tale. Shhhh, Only a few more to go before he wakes up…. and what do you think this dream is all about eh? Why don’t you tell me in the comments.
Ok, i’ve been up drawing way to late again, getting silly. off to bed.
cheers
